Great Senior Dog Food BUT don't go by recommended feeding

I have a 14 year old lab/retriever mix. I started noticing she wasn't being her normal active self, so I decided to switch her food from Pedigree to Science Diet, Large Adult kind. Within 3 weeks, she became more active than she ever was, she was so happy and even had puppy-like play behavior (it was so cute seeing her this way after her being down for awhile!). I am still so happy with my decision to switch to this new food. With that being said, I do not recommend going by the recommended feeding on the side of the bag. For her size, it was recommended to feed her over 3 cups a day (75 lbs.). I took her to the vet and they said she was about 15 lbs. overweight. This food is for adults, so the recommendation should take in consideration that these pups aren't as active as a puppy! So, def. buy this food but make your own decision on how much to feed your pup!

New dog

I started feeding this a couple years ago after my Cane Corso started to show signs of stiffness and soreness in his gait. Had trouble getting up after walks etc. Since he has been on this, he is like a puppy. Being the running mastiff breed, he is able to be the dog he was meant to be. Active, happy, and hasn't limped once since being on this diet. I have recommended this diet to two others with similar issues and they are so thankful for the suggestion. It's like they have new dogs again.

Yes, he's been eating this for about 4 years

My Black Lab rescue, about 8 years-old, had back surgery for degenerative disk 4 years ago and I put him on Hill's AM at the suggestion of my vet (not the surgeon). He's recovered nicely and was back to our daily one mile walk within a few months of the surgery. He's back to chasing squirrels and as far as I can tell, fully recovered. He gets a little meat or wet dog food with the Hill's AM. He had reached a weight of 90 lbs. before his surgery, but since then, he's maintained 75-80 lbs. on the Hill's AM. I'm wondering how long I can/should keep him on this product; to what age before switching to an "old" dog food.
