What is the PetSafe Anti-Barking Spray Collar?
It's a citronella spray collar that emits a harmless burst of citronella spray when the dog barks. Interrupts the bark with an unpleasant (to dogs) but safe sensory experience.
How does it work?
Sound-detection triggers the spray when your dog barks. Most dogs learn to associate barking with the unpleasant spray and reduce barking. Effective for many dogs; some habituate.
Vs shock collars?
Citronella is more humane — no electrical stimulus. Less aversive but also potentially less effective for dogs that ignore the spray. Good first option before considering more aversive devices.
