FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more about PetMax.

What is the Pet Corrector?
It's a compressed-air can that emits a hissing sound when triggered. The hiss interrupts unwanted behaviour — the sound mimics the warning hiss many animals use as a back-off signal.
How do I use it?
When your dog starts an unwanted behaviour (barking, jumping, food stealing), give a short burst from a few feet away. The moment the behaviour stops, reward calm — that's how the dog learns the alternative.
Is it safe for my dog?
It's compressed air — no chemicals, no aerosols hitting the dog. Used as directed (short bursts, never close to the face) it's safe. The included guide walks through proper use.
When shouldn't I use it?
Don't use it on fearful or anxious dogs — it can deepen fear-based behaviour. Don't use it close to the face. Don't rely on it as the only training tool. It's a behaviour interrupter, not a substitute for proper training.
What if it scares my dog too much?
If your dog reacts with fear or shutdown, stop using it and switch to reward-based interruption (recall to you for a treat, redirect with a toy). The Pet Corrector works best for confident dogs doing nuisance behaviours, not for anxious dogs.
