Go! is one of the foods our team gets asked about most, and it’s easy to see why: the bags are organized by what your pet needs (sensitive skin, a touchy stomach, a few extra pounds) instead of by flavour. Add its sister brand Now Fresh and there are a lot of recipes to choose from. This is the third in our series on the Canadian companies behind the food on our shelves, after Acana & Orijen and Nutrience. Here’s the whole Petcurean family, line by line.
Quick answer: Go! Solutions and Now Fresh are made by Petcurean, a Canadian pet food company based in Chilliwack, in BC’s Fraser Valley. Go! is organized by need: Sensitivities for limited-ingredient diets, Skin + Coat Care for itchy skin or dull coats, Digestion + Gut Health for sensitive stomachs, Carnivore for high-protein grain-free feeding, and Weight Management + Joint Care for pets who need to slim down. Now Fresh is the fresh-meat line, made with no meat meals or by-product meals. Go! dry food and Now Fresh dry dog food are made in Canada.
Who makes Go! Solutions and Now Fresh?
Both come from Petcurean, which two friends started as a small family operation in BC’s Fraser Valley in 1999. Today it’s a privately held company based in Chilliwack, and Go! and Now Fresh are its two biggest brands. What we appreciate is how openly Petcurean explains where its food is made. According to Go!’s quality FAQ, Go! dry recipes are made in Elmira, Ontario, by Elmira Pet Products, on production equipment Petcurean owns, a partnership that dates back to 2015. Now Fresh dry dog food is made in Canada too. The wet foods are made elsewhere: Tetra Pak recipes in Wisconsin, and the Go! Boosters toppers in Thailand. That kind of plain-language sourcing is exactly what our label-reading guide tells you to look for.
Go! Solutions at a glance
Each Go! line is built around one job. Here’s the quick map, with the recipe in each line our customers buy most:
| Go! line | Grains? | Built for | Popular at PetMax |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sensitivities | Grain-free, limited ingredient | Food sensitivities, one animal protein | Insect (dog) |
| Skin + Coat Care | With grains (most recipes) | Itchy skin, dull or flaky coats | Large Breed Salmon (dog) |
| Digestion + Gut Health | Ancient grains | Sensitive stomachs, inconsistent stools | Salmon (dog) |
| Carnivore | Grain-free | High-protein, active pets | Chicken, Turkey + Duck (dog) |
| Weight Management + Joint Care | Grain-free | Weight loss, adult and senior joints | Chicken (dog) |
| Dental + Immune Health | With grains | Tartar-prone dogs and cats (new in 2026) | Chicken + Salmon (dog) |
| Hairball Control + Urinary Care | With grains | Cats with hairballs or urinary concerns | Chicken (cat) |
Go! Sensitivities: for dogs and cats who react to common proteins
Sensitivities is Go!’s limited-ingredient, grain-free line: one animal protein per recipe and a short ingredient list, so it’s easier to work out what agrees with your pet. It’s our best-selling Go! line by a wide margin. The standout is the Insect recipe, which leads with black soldier fly larvae and gets its omega-3s from microalgae. It’s a protein almost no dog has eaten before, which is exactly what makes it useful for dogs who seem to react to everything. More familiar options include Salmon, Lamb and Duck for dogs, and Salmon and Duck for cats. If your vet suspects a true food allergy, they’ll guide a proper elimination trial; Sensitivities is often part of that conversation.
Go! Skin + Coat Care: for itchy skin and dull coats
Skin + Coat Care is built around omega fatty acids from salmon oil and flaxseed, and most recipes include wholesome grains. It’s where we point owners of dogs with dry, flaky skin or a coat that’s lost its shine. The Salmon recipe is chicken-free, handy for dogs who don’t do well with poultry, and there are Lamb and Chicken options too. Big dogs have their own large breed adult and large breed puppy formulas, and cats get Chicken or a grain-free Salmon recipe.
Go! Digestion + Gut Health: for sensitive stomachs
This line pairs a probiotic that Petcurean says is proven to survive the digestive tract with a three-yeast blend, ancient grains and psyllium fibre. It’s a good fit for dogs and cats with soft or inconsistent stools, or who get an upset stomach easily. Try the Salmon or Chicken recipe for dogs, or Salmon for cats. For more on the topic, see our guide to the best dog food for sensitive stomachs.
Go! Carnivore: high-protein and grain-free
Carnivore is the meat-forward line: grain-free, with 85% of the protein in the dog recipes coming from meat and fish (84% for cats), drawn from 11 animal ingredients. It suits active dogs, cats who thrive on a protein-rich diet, and owners comparing it with foods like Orijen. The Chicken, Turkey + Duck adult recipe is the most popular, with a puppy version and a Salmon + Cod option. Cats have Chicken, Turkey + Duck and Salmon + Cod kibble, and the matching pâté is one of our best-selling Go! wet foods.
Go! Weight Management + Joint Care, Dental + Immune Health, and Hairball + Urinary
Three more targeted lines round out the family. Weight Management + Joint Care is grain-free, with psyllium and flax to help pets feel full on fewer calories, plus joint support for adults and seniors (Chicken for dogs, Salmon for dogs, Chicken for cats). Dental + Immune Health is new this year, developed with a board-certified veterinary nutritionist, with a larger kibble made to be chewed and a postbiotic for immune support (dog, cat). And for cats, Hairball Control + Urinary Care uses miscanthus grass and psyllium to keep hair moving, with controlled magnesium and pH for urinary health. Want to add variety to any bowl? Go!’s Booster toppers spoon right on top.
What makes Now Fresh different?
Now Fresh is Petcurean’s fresh-meat brand. Every recipe is made with fresh meat and no meat meals or by-product meals, and the kibble is cooked only once. (Meals aren’t a bad ingredient, as our label guide explains; Go! uses them in some recipes as a concentrated protein. Now Fresh simply takes a different approach.) There are two dry lines:
- Now Fresh Grain-Free: turkey, salmon and duck recipes for every life stage and size, like Small Breed Adult and Large Breed Adult, a Senior formula, and an Adult cat recipe.
- Now Fresh Good Gravy: grain-inclusive kibble (with millet and quinoa) coated in bone broth. Serve it dry, or add warm water to make a gravy. It’s a favourite for picky eaters: try Good Gravy Beef.
Wet options include shredded chicken in broth for dogs. Browse the full Now Fresh range.
Which Go! or Now Fresh recipe is right for my pet?
Start with your pet’s main need, then pick the protein they like:
| If your pet | Start with |
|---|---|
| Scratches, licks their paws, or has a dull coat | Go! Skin + Coat Care (or Sensitivities if you suspect a food trigger) |
| Seems to react to chicken or beef | Go! Sensitivities: Insect, Duck, Lamb or Salmon |
| Has a sensitive stomach or loose stools | Go! Digestion + Gut Health |
| Is active and does well on high protein | Go! Carnivore |
| Needs to lose weight | Go! Weight Management + Joint Care |
| Is a picky eater | Now Fresh Good Gravy, served with warm water |
| Is a senior | Now Fresh Senior, or Go! Weight Management + Joint Care |
| Is a cat with hairballs or urinary concerns | Go! Hairball Control + Urinary Care |

How do I switch my pet to Go! or Now Fresh?
Gradually, over 7–10 days: start with about a quarter new food mixed into the old, move to half and half around day four, three quarters new by day seven, then all new. Pets with sensitive stomachs may need the slower end of that range, and a spoonful of Fruitables Switch pumpkin can help smooth the transition. If your pet has a diagnosed medical condition, check with your vet before changing diets.
The bottom line
Petcurean makes food that’s easy to shop by need: Go! when you’re solving something specific, Now Fresh when fresh meat and no meals is your priority. Pick the line that matches your pet, switch slowly, and give it four to six weeks before judging skin and coat changes. Our team is always happy to help you narrow it down.
